What is Mulberry Leaf DNJ?
Mulberry Leaf DNJ is a natural alkaloid whose Chinese name is 1-deoxynojirimycin. The medicinal value of mulberry leaves for people with diabetes and hyperglycemia lies in the DNJ component it contains.
The DNJ in mulberry is mainly distributed in the leaves, roots and branches of mulberry, and the content of DNJ in mulberry leaves is relatively high (about one thousandth of the dry weight). Moreover, mulberry leaves account for the largest proportion of the dry matter of the entire mulberry tree, which is about 65%. Therefore, mulberry leaves have become the main source for obtaining natural DNJ.
DNJ is a potent inhibitor of sugar metabolism enzymes (such as α-glucosidase), which can significantly delay the degradation process of polysaccharides, reduce the peak of postprandial blood sugar, which belongs to the "inhibitor" of the four major sugar control factors of Alpha.

(1) Lowers postprandial blood sugar. In the small intestine, DNJ reduces the binding probability of polysaccharides to α-glucosidase and inhibits the breakdown of fructose into glucose. Because of the action of DNJ, less glucose enters the bloodstream, so blood sugar levels can be maintained at healthy levels.
(2) Fasting blood sugar was stable. DNJ can slow down the process of hepatic glycogen degradation to glucose, thereby stabilizing fasting blood sugar.
(3) Improve insulin resistance. DNJ can increase insulin sensitivity and improve symptoms of insulin resistance.
