How About Your NMN Powder?

Our Bulk NMN Powder is third-party tested by independent and authoritative laboratories to confirm it is completely pure NMN powder and authentic. It is the highest quality NMN supplement anywhere in the world.

What are the Differences between NMN and NR?

Like NR (Nicotinamide Riboside), NMN is an efficient precursor to NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide), which means it undergoes a chemical conversion to NAD+. NAD+ is an important coenzyme found in every cell of the human body, but levels of NAD+ naturally decline with age, so it, along with precursors like NMN and NR, becomes critical. NMN and NR are very similar in structure, except that the phosphate group on NMN makes this precursor larger than NR. In the past, researchers believed that because of its size, NMN had to first be converted to NR before entering cells. Now, however, new research in mice shows that certain tissues express a transporter called Slc12a8, which helps NMN enter cells intact, where it is then converted to NAD+. The results of this study suggest that different tissues may have a preference for NR or NMN. Once inside cells, NMN is actually closer to being NAD+ than NR. NR first needs to be transformed into NMN before it can be transformed into NAD+. In contrast with NR, NMN is an immediate precursor to NAD+, requiring only one transformation step to become NAD+.

NMN&NR

Which is Better? NMN or NR?

Both have been shown to date to be effective in increasing NAD+ levels in the body and are safe to consume. A growing number of completed and ongoing human clinical trials investigate the effects of NR or NMN on particular aspects of human performance or physiology. For instance, NMN supplementation seemed to support healthy insulin sensitivity in muscles and improve aerobic capacity in two different studies. NR supplementation has been shown to increase NAD+ levels in the brain and reduce levels of inflammatory cytokines in the central nervous system. These studies were based on different doses and were limited to particular groups, so they need to be confirmed in larger, more extensive trials. However, these preliminary findings provide convincing evidence for the multiple health benefits of supplementing NAD+ precursors. More research is needed to determine whether their benefits vary by tissue type.

Why Should I Need NMN and NR?

Both NR and NMN are beneficial and helpful because they increase levels of NAD+, which falls with age. NAD+ is essential for cellular metabolism (converting nutrients into cellular energy), maintaining DNA health, activating sirtuins, and hundreds of other metabolic processes. Due to our diet, we all absorb NAD+ in our bodies by consuming foods that contain NAD+ precursors. Although NR and NMN can be found in trace amounts in various foods, however, a person cannot consume enough of either to significantly increase NAD+ levels. Therefore, supplementing with NAD+ precursors can help alleviate this decline. Studies in human and animal models provide evidence of multiple health benefits of supplementation with NR or NMN.

We know from human studies that using NR or NMN can safely and sustainably increase NAD+ levels by up to 40%. We also know that there is a clear link between NAD+ abundance and healthy aging. In a paper in the journal Nature Aging, scientists analyzed metabolites in young and old muscle tissue and found that NAD+ was one of the most depleted metabolites in the elderly One - this is consistent with the results of preclinical studies. Notably, lower NAD+ levels were more definite in physically impaired older adults, whereas NAD+ levels in exercise-trained older individuals were closer to those of younger individuals. These results confirm that not only is there a correlation between NAD+ levels and age, but that elevated NAD+ levels are associated with healthier aging.
